Are You Financially Healthy?

Angela MareeMoney Mindset

Your financial health represents one of the key pillars of health and wellness. When you have health in your finances, it’s infinitely easier to have health in your body.

Think about how much stress, worry and anxiety you have around money. You might worry about how you are going to pay your next mortgage payment or that ridiculously high electricity bill that just came in. You might worry about how you’re going to fund your retirement with the little superannuation you currently have. You might wish you had enough money for organic groceries or the yoga membership, things you know would be good for your health, but feel you can’t justify the extra expense because of financial pressure.

It is common knowledge that stress is a major factor in creating dis-ease in the body. And financial stress is a major component of this. Dr Christiane Northrup, M.D., author of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom, says “our relationship with money profoundly affects our health, particularly the health of the second chakra – our organs of reproduction, the bladder, parts of the bowel, and the low back”.

You know you should be saving, putting extra money into superannuation, getting onto the property market, spending less than you earn and not using credit cards. But the cost of living in Australia is expensive and you feel there is never enough money left in your pay check to put towards these things.  It is so easy to bury your head in the sand when it comes to your finances and just hope the issue will go away.

Saving, investing and managing your cash flow are good financial habits to develop. But like exercising and eating healthily – everyone knows they should be doing it, but a large percentage of people find they can’t make these habits stick. There is an invisible glass ceiling that you can’t push through.  This glass ceiling is made up of your thoughts, fears and sub-conscious beliefs, which create your mindset. Thinking you can’t afford things is a lack and scarcity mindset. You feel there is never enough, whether that be enough time, enough money or enough love and support. A lack and scarcity mindset can show up in your life in many different ways, for example:

  • Your dreams never become your reality
  • You stay in a job you don’t really like for the security of a pay check.
  • You stay in a toxic relationship through fear of not finding anything better or being financially supported.
  • You self-sabotage your business by not doing what is required to attract clients and be visible.

It’s virtually impossible to avoid relating with money in today’s world. So why not make it a priority to get your money under control?

A lack and scarcity mindset carries a low vibration of fear. By moving towards a high vibration of love with money, you can create an abundance mindset. If you feel you resonate with being in a lack and scarcity mindset, awareness is the first critical step to being able to make a change.
